Before joining a Zoom meeting on a computer or mobile device, you can download Zoom from the Download Center. There is a way to start and join Zoom calls without downloading anything, but you will need to sign up for an account. Annoyingly, this applies. Click Cancel in the pop-up window, then click the Join from Your Browser link if you do not want to download Zoom before joining the meeting.
